DSC Announcement

06/05/2025

DSC is excited to announce the expansion of three new clubs to its network to support the growth of touch rugby in Seapoint, Lansdowne and Greystones. In collaboration with local rugby clubs, DSC is adapting the IRFU's "Give It A Try" program into a dedicated touch rugby format. This initiative aims to create an inclusive, accessible pathway into rugby for players of all ages and abilities, emphasising the non-contact, fast-paced, and fun nature of touch rugby.

Touch rugby offers numerous benefits to rugbg clubs, including increased activity outside the traditional rugby season, attracting new members, and providing opportunities for players to develop skills in a social, less physically demanding environment. By integrating touch rugby, DSC and its partner clubs are fostering community engagement and expanding rugby participation, welcoming players of all abilities and ages.

The program aligns with the IRFU's broader strategy to promote non-contact rugby formats, responding to strong community interest and supporting player retention and recruitment. DSC's involvement also connects players to regional and national competitions, with some DSC members already representing Ireland in both the Open and Junior Irish Teams, showcasing the pathway from grassroots to international levels.

This expansion reflects DSC's commitment to growing rugby inclusively through innovative formats, enhancing club vitality and offering a welcoming entry point into the sport for everyone.
